Cross-Consortia Synergy

The Geo-Chem-Life Science Helpdesk Cluster

The German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) aims to break down domain-specific silos to build a FAIR data ecosystem. This poster presents the operational framework of the Geo-Chem-Life Science Helpdesk Cluster—a collaborative initiative between the ten consortia DataPlant, FAIRagro, GHGA, NFDI4Biodiversity, NFDI4BIOIMAGE, NFDI4Chem, NFDI4Earth, NFDI4Health, NFDI4Immuno, NFDI4Microbiota.

The poster outlines how this cluster professionalizes research data management (RDM) as a cross-disciplinary bottom-up driven initiative. We highlight the “behind-the-scenes” mechanisms of our collaborative support process, where expertise from different domains is pooled to solve multi-faceted RDM challenges.

A central feature of this collaboration is the role of Rocket.Chat as a fast-track communication artery. A shared chat channel enables real-time synchronization between data stewards from different consortia, allowing for rapid response times and the shared development of best practices.

By showcasing this model, we emphasize the value of a unified community that bridges multiple helpdesks to address shared challenges and cross-disciplinary inquiries. This approach facilitates direct, low-threshold solutions by enhancing the interconnection between experts, ensuring that technical hurdles are overcome through collective intelligence rather than in isolation. The here presented approach can be used as foundation and blue-print for future collaborations to work towards a one NFDI helpdesk.
